Saint Jean Cap Ferrat: 'The Hidden Gem Of The French Riviera'. *

The Riviera is an area of France often known for being a playground for the rich and famous. It’s true that you do get a lot of people with money and massive yachts out there, and a lot of the resorts in the area have since lost a lot of their charm and originality because they’ve been updated with expensive shopping districts and fancy new bars and restaurants. That’s not to say that those places aren’t worth visiting, they’re still f*cking beautiful - but if you’re looking for something with a bit more character, you might wanna opt for Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, a small wooded peninsula off the coast. These are just some of the many reasons you should add it to your bucket list...

It’s pretty much untouched.

There’s still a lot going on in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat and there is a good amount of tourism there every year, but it’s still managed to remain largely untouched compared to a lot of the other resorts in the area - especially places like St. Tropez. While there's plenty to see and do, any new additions have been carefully planned so as not to interfere with the traditional #aesthetic of the place. The beautiful rocky coastline remains intact, and the entire peninsula is filled with quaint cobbled streets.

Amazing places to stay.

If you’re put off by the traditional feel of the place because you think that you’re going to miss out on the luxuries of the mainland resorts, think again. Elegant Address have loads of incredible villas in the area, with some wonderful views of the beach and coastline, and their own pool to relax in as well. You’re just a short walk from the beach below and the surrounding town, so you don’t need to waste time wandering around all day.

Wonderful food.

France is famous for being the culinary capital of the world, so wherever you go you’ll find something delicious to eat and SJCF is no exception. There are some great places along the coastline where you can sit outside in the sun and enjoy a meal. If it’s fresh seafood you’re after (not necessarily my thing, but hey), then head to Capitaine Cook’s, it’s all locally sourced and it’s one of the more reasonably priced restaurants in the region. Or if you’re looking for some simple French classics done well, La Table du Royal is one of the best places to go. This incredible place has great sea views in its outside dining area.

Nice...and close to Nice.

SJCF is great for a peaceful getaway but if you find yourself in the mood for something a little more modern and lively, you’re only half an hour away from Nice. Nice is not only nice, it's also one of the most popular French beach destinations, famous for its golden sands and impressive ports where you can hire a boat for the day. The upbeat atmosphere in Nice makes for a good change of pace for the day.

Next time you’re planning a trip somewhere warm, why not skip the busier resorts and head over to Saint Jean Cap Ferrat instead?
